Star Elevator was awarded the project to modernize two 1918 basement drum elevators. The project needed to be completed on time, on budget, and while the Hotel was fully operational with minimal disruption to the guests.
The original pit equipment was in use nearly 100 years.
The complete modernization included replacing the original overhead sheaves.
After removing all the old equipment we installed new basement traction machines with modern safety features.
We had to excavate and reinforce a newly poured concrete pit to meet current structural safety codes and compliance.
The engineered design for the entire elevator included additional new structural beams and overhead sheaves.
This successful project was another example of our expertise and experience not only with modernization of old equipment, but understanding the needs and requirements of the hospitality industry.
