San Francisco in 1907. The City is still shaken from the aftermath of one of the most significant earthquakes of all time. However, The City is surging back to life; rising from the rubble. New building projects are in motion – modern structures will soon line Market Street.
Star Elevator was awarded the project to modernize two 1918 basement drum elevators. The project needed to be completed on time, on budget, and while the Hotel was fully operational with minimal disruption to the guests.
Modernize the original group of elevators in a fully occupied Class A office building. The project required early morning crane picks to lift the new machines and controls to the rooftop machine room. The machine room was constructed of concrete presenting an obstacle to bringing equipment into the room. The original plan called for the building to open the concrete wall to accommodate the size of the machinery. Star was able to breakdown the equipment and utilize the existing doorway saving the customer time and money on the project.
